R.E.C – Rebuilt, Redesigned & Reimagined
R.E.C (Reconnaissance, Extraction, Containment) is a cinematic psychological horror action game that has been heavily redesigned and rebuilt from the ground up, introducing new environments, reinvented gameplay mechanics, improved gunplay, redesigned characters, and a much stronger focus on atmosphere, immersion, and storytelling.
The new version of R.E.C represents a major evolution of the original concept. Rather than simply improving what was already there, we have gone back through the game and reworked many of its core systems to create a more polished, engaging, and cinematic experience.
Reinvented Gunplay
Gunplay has been redesigned to feel heavier, more responsive, and more tactical. Weapons are designed to have greater impact, with improved aiming, movement, recoil, animations, and enemy reactions.
Combat is no longer focused purely on shooting enemies. Players will need to pay attention to positioning, cover, ammunition, enemy behaviour, and the environment around them.
The goal is to make every encounter feel tense and unpredictable, combining the intensity of a tactical shooter with the pressure and uncertainty.
Redesigned Movement and Gameplay
Player movement has been completely reworked, with inspiration taken from modern First-person horror games. The new movement system provides smoother character control, improved camera behaviour, more natural animations, and greater interaction with the environment. Exploration, combat, environmental interaction, dialogue, and cinematic sequences are being brought together to create a much more complete gameplay experience.
New and Reinvented Locations
R.E.C introduces a range of new and redesigned environments that players will explore throughout the campaign. Players will move through abandoned industrial areas, warehouses, offices, military locations, dockyards, underground tunnels, city environments, hangars, and other locations connected to the wider conspiracy surrounding R.E.C. Existing areas are also being reinvented with improved layouts, lighting, environmental storytelling, atmosphere, and gameplay opportunities. Every environment is being designed to feel like a believable location rather than simply a space for combat.
New Visual Identity
The visual design of R.E.C has also been heavily reworked.
The game combines cinematic third-person presentation with bodycam, surveillance, VHS, and distorted recording effects to create its own visual identity.
Lighting, post-processing, environments, animations, characters, and cinematics have all been redesigned to create a darker and more grounded world.
These visual effects are not simply cosmetic. They are used as part of the storytelling and psychological horror, making the player question whether what they are seeing is real, recorded, manipulated, or something else entirely.
Redesigned Characters and Enemies
Characters are being redesigned to feel more believable and cinematic, with improved character models, animations, dialogue, facial performances, and presentation.
Enemy soldiers are also receiving improved AI and behaviour, allowing them to react more naturally to the player, move through environments, take cover, reposition, and create more unpredictable combat situations.
The aim is to make enemies feel like an active threat rather than targets waiting for the player.
A Stronger Psychological Horror Experience
The horror of R.E.C is being expanded beyond traditional jump scares. Players will experience environmental horror, disturbing imagery, psychological manipulation, hallucination-like sequences, changing environments, unsettling audio, and events that may cause them to question what is actually happening.
Some moments will be loud and aggressive.
Others will rely entirely on silence, atmosphere, and the feeling that something is wrong.
Expanded Story and World
The narrative has also been expanded and redesigned around Ethan and his involvement with R.E.C. What initially appears to be another dangerous operation slowly develops into a much larger conspiracy involving The Syndicate, The Founders, experimental technology, psychological manipulation, and the mysterious artificial intelligence AIDA. As Ethan investigates further, the difference between enemy, ally, memory, and manipulation becomes increasingly difficult to understand.
A New Direction for R.E.C
This version of R.E.C is more than an update.
It is a reinvention of what we originally wanted the game to become.
New designs.
Reinvented mechanics.
Improved gunplay.
New locations.
Redesigned environments.
Smarter enemies.
Expanded horror.
Deeper storytelling.
A completely evolved R.E.C experience.
Our aim is to create a psychological horror game where intense tactical combat and cinematic action can suddenly give way to isolation, uncertainty, and fear.
One moment you may be clearing a hostile building with your weapon raised.
The next, you may be standing in complete silence, questioning whether the corridor in front of you was there a few seconds ago.
